This homemade pizza sauce recipe is simple, brightly flavored and super easy to make from scratch. It has a deep, intense tomato flavor that’s the perfect backdrop to your favorite pizza dough!

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, smashed and peeled
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 28-oz can whole peeled tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Crush the tomatoes by hand and add the pulp and the juices to the pot. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, uncovered, until thickened and flavorful, about 30 minutes. Taste and adjust with more salt and pepper as needed.

  2. Use an immersion blender to blend until smooth. Transfer to a glass jar and let cool.

Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 6 months.
