Ingredients

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 (1-inch wide) strips of orange zest
  • 1 (2-inch long) piece of ginger, sliced into coins
  • 1 oz honey
  • 1 1/2 oz apple brandy
  • 3/4 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters

Instructions

  1. Add a pinch of cayenne to the bottom of a small mug, then squeeze an orange peel to spritz the oils inside. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine ginger slices with 1 cup of water. Bring mixture to a simmer, cover and cook for about 10 minutes, or until water has a spicy ginger flavor. Remove from heat and pour 1/2 cup of hot ginger water into a cocktail shaker or large heatproof glass. Discard ginger pieces and extra water.
  3. Add honey, apple brandy, Grand Marnier, lemon juice and bitters to shaker and stir to combine. Pour into prepared mug and serve.
