Ingredients

spiced tamarind simple syrup

chili salt rim

  • 3 tbsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 lime, quartered

  • 2 oz tequila
  • 1 oz tamarind simple syrup
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar, then remove from heat. Cool completely and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

  1. Mix salt and chili powder together in a wide, shallow bowl or plate.
  2. Cut a small notch in the center of a lime wedge, then run the notch along the edge of your glass. Dip the glass in the chili salt, fill with ice and set aside.
  3. Combine tequila, tamarind simple syrup, lime juice and Cointreau in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake 30 seconds until well chilled, pour into the prepared glass and enjoy immediately.
