This bourbon sidecar recipe is filled with sweet citrus, rich maple syrup and smooth bourbon. It’s mellow, sweet and boozy and served with a fragrant orange sugar rim.
Prep Time:5 minutes
Total Time:5 minutes
2 tbsp granulated sugar
zest of 1/2 orange
1 lemon wedge, notched in center
1 1/2 oz bourbon
1 1/2 oz Grand Marnier (can substitute Cointreau)
1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
3/4 oz maple syrup
Combine sugar and orange zest in a mortar and pestle or spice grinder and blend until zest is finely chopped and mixed into the sugar (if using a spice grinder, only pulse a few times and don’t over process, or the sugar will turn into a fine powder). Transfer to a plate.
Run lemon wedge around half the rim of a coupe or cocktail glass to moisten, then invert glass and dip edge into orange sugar to coat. Set aside.
Combine bourbon, Grand Marnier, lemon juice and maple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled, about 30 seconds, then strain into prepared glass and enjoy.
